Goodbye ‘Hot Girl Summer’, Hello Hobby Girl Era

While ‘Hot Girl Summer ‘was fun, I think us girls have the confident and carefree mentality down to a tee. I believe it’s time to embrace a new era, which I like to call, a Hobby Girl Summer.

I’ve been trying to convince my friends and family that shopping is a hobby, and while I believe it’s good for my mental health, it’s not always good for my wallet. Instead, I’ve been trying out these new hot girl hobbies that will hopefully transform the way I view self-care and free time.

Jewelry Making

No matter what the trend is, whether minimalist or maximalist, jewelry will always be in style. Instead of splurging on the latest pieces, why not learn to craft your own? Whether it’s friendship bracelets or custom pieces, places like Michael’s and Amazon have all you need to get started.

Pottery Creating

As a bit of a perfectionist, pottery used to frustrate me. But now, I’m all about embracing the imperfect. My Pinterest is full of quirky key bowls adorned with seashells and beads. It’s a hobby that challenges my Type A tendencies in all the right ways.

Scrapbooking

If you’re a bit of a hoarder like me and have a box full of memories manifesting as birthday cards, receipts, and movie stubs; scrapbooking may be the hobby for you. Showing your creative side while reminiscing on memories is such a fun way to pass time, especially if you partner it with a good playlist.

If none of these hobbies spark your interest, here is an extensive list of hobbies that never fail to keep me occupied, entertained, and sometimes frustrated.

  • Candle making
  • Baking
  • Puzzles
  • Colouring
  • Knitting
  • Sewing
  • Creative writing
  • Gardening
